We ALL struggle at times
It is perfectly ok, and often very wise, to seek support when we are having a tough time.
Counselling with me offers you a safe space to reflect upon your experiences and your needs, without being judged.
I offer both short-term and long-term counselling.
Experiential
You may feel stuck, lost, adrift or unsure of your direction or purpose.
You may be experiencing anxiety, feel overwhelmed and have a sense of not being in control of yourself.
You may feel the need to make sense of, or find relief from, uncomfortable feelings and behaviours that you find yourself caught up in or repeating through your life.
These behaviours are most likely a symptom of something else that is going on for you, unresolved trauma or unseen suffering. We do what we can and what we know in order to survive, and when we know more, we have more choices.
You are good enough
Counselling with me can help to clarify and support you through many of life's difficult and distressing experiences, including helping you to recognise and effectively address your inner critic, that inside voice that tells you that you are not good enough.
Relationships
Developing our capacity for self-compassion can increase our resilience, and ultimately improve our quality of life.
Together, we can help you to make sense of what your experiences mean to you, address internal conflicts, and help you to gain, or regain, a sense of ownership of your life.
Empowering
The process of counselling is experiential and collaborative. We work together at your pace to ensure you gain maximum therapeutic benefit.
New Perspectives
As children, we are creative; we play, dream, imagine and explore.
Working creatively in counselling allows us to encompass all of these elements that the inhibitions and barriers of adulthood may have now blocked. Finding new ways to look at things and explore what they mean for us can be liberating.
Outdoors - Walk and Talk/ Sit and Talk
I am not able to offer you sessions in my therapy room at present, and if online sessions are not for you, I am able to meet with you in an outdoor space for socially distanced sessions instead (please check with me for availability).
We can sit for the duration of the session, or we can walk and talk.
Getting outdoors in nature can naturally improve our mental health. It can get things moving for us physically and it can also help us to feel less stuck as we find head space for clearer thought processes.
Exercise can help to alleviate anxiety and depression, improving our mood as well as our physical health.
Finding the motivation to go and exercise, or even get outside, is not always that easy so having a 'Walk and Talk' session may help.
This way of working will not be appropriate for everyone so please feel free to enquire for more details if this interests you.
My extensive professional training allows me to use aspects of various models of therapies - 'one-size' does not fit all. How we work together will be tailored to suit your needs, and ultimately whatever you are most comfortable with.
Over the years, I have worked therapeutically with thousands of people experiencing many issues, including those relating to;
No matter what you have been through, your experiences do not define who you are.
Please see my 'Qualifications & Training' page for further information about my professional training and experience.
