Rewind Trauma Therapy

Closure without Disclosure

If you are suffering after exposure to a stressful event (or multiple events) you may benefit from Rewind Trauma Therapy.

The Rewind Technique is a non-disclosure trauma therapy, meaning that you do not have to talk about the details of your experience.

This is different from other therapies and why it is often known as 'closure without disclosure'.

  • The Rewind Technique is internationally recognised for effectively treating symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD).

  • It is used to treat either recent or historic traumatic experiences.

  • It is used to treat those who have either experienced the trauma directly or who have heard about or witnessed the traumatic event.

  • It is used to treat single or multiple traumatic events.

Being exposed to an event where we felt very frightened or powerless can sometimes lead to the development of PTSD.

Some examples of such events include, but are not limited to;

  • Experiencing or witnessing violence
  • Sexual assault
  • Physical assault
  • Verbal assault
  • Bullying
  • Domestic abuse
  • Road traffic accident
  • Miscarriage
  • Traumatic Birth
  • Abortion
  • Serious or sudden illness
  • Loss of limb, change in appearance
  • Sudden Bereavement
  • Accidents at work or at home
  • Terrorism
  • Combat
  • Natural disaster

Certified Practitioner

  • I am a certified Rewind Therapy practitioner

  • I trained with The International Association for Rewind Trauma Therapy (IARTT)

  • Approved by The British Psychological Society (BPS)

Sessions

  • For single event traumas, often only 2 or 3 sessions are required.

  • I offer The Rewind Technique as a stand alone therapy, or it can be integrated into your counselling sessions with me, as appropriate.

PTSD

Symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

It is natural to experience upsetting or distressing thoughts and feelings, even physical sensations, after being exposed to a traumatic event. These will usually start to lessen in the days and weeks following the event. If symptoms persist beyond, or start after approx 4 weeks, you could be experiencing PTSD.

Some of the symptoms of PTSD include:

  • Flashbacks
  • Nightmares
  • Intrusive thoughts or images
  • Physical sensations such as pain, sweating, trembling, feeling sick
  • Avoidance behaviours -  avoiding people, places, activities, thoughts, feelings
  • Increased irritability
  • Increased anger
  • Sleep problems
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Hypervigilance - Feeling constantly alert and anxious

Complex PTSD

Complex PTSD can result from experiencing or being exposed to a prolonged traumatic event or recurring, long-term traumatic experiences. Events from which escape is extremely difficult, or impossible.

The symptoms of Complex PTSD can include all of the symptoms of PTSD, with the addition of:

  • Feelings of worthlessness, guilt and shame
  • Difficulty regulating emotions
  • Difficulty with relationships and trusting others
  • Memory difficulties

Enduring Results

Filed Away

Memories cannot be erased, but the Rewind Technique is able to greatly reduce and even stop the involuntary recall and the distressing symptoms experienced.

Feel Lighter

Clients often tell me that after they have had just one session of Rewind Trauma Therapy, they feel lighter, like a weight has been lifted from their shoulders.
