Online Trauma Therapy | 90-Minute Sessions

Sharon Nicholson's therapy room

Steady, consistent support for trauma recovery & relational healing

You are functioning. And something still hasn't shifted.

Your mind keeps returning to it. The conversations, the confusion, the slow erosion of something you trusted.

You understand what happened, or you're pretty sure you do, and still your body reacts.

Still the anxiety. Still the hypervigilance. Still the tightening before you even know why.

Healing often requires more than insight alone. These sessions offer a consistent, safe space where your nervous system can begin to let go of what it has been carrying — steadily, gently, and at a pace your body can sustain.

Why 90-minutes makes A difference

Standard 50-minute sessions often feel like they are just beginning to open something when it is already time to stop.

90 minutes creates a different experience.

Your nervous system has time to settle properly before deeper processing begins. There is space for the work to unfold beneath the surface, and time to regulate and integrate before returning to everyday life.

This extended space allows Brainspotting, somatic work, and parts-informed therapy to unfold naturally, without pressure and without rushing toward a close.

What our sessions look like

You do not need to arrive with an agenda or the right words.

Some people come knowing exactly what feels present. Others only discover what is there once their nervous system begins to settle.

Both are completely fine.

We work gently with whatever emerges — through Brainspotting, parts-informed therapy, nervous system regulation, and somatic approaches.

Always collaboratively, always at the pace your system is ready for.

Some sessions feel quiet and spacious, as though something inside you is finally exhaling. Others bring forward emotions, memories, or protective parts that have been held beneath the surface for a long time.

Healing often happens more quietly than people expect.

Gradually, many clients begin to notice:

  • Less ruminating and replaying.

  • More emotional steadiness.

  • Greater self-trust.

  • Less shame and self-abandonment.

  • A stronger sense of themselves returning.

🌿 "I liked that there was no set agenda. I turned up as myself each time and we worked with whatever came up that day. Sometimes I knew what I wanted to talk about — other times it just came up once we got started."

— Client experience

This work may be right for you if…

  • Your body still feels affected even when your mind understands what happened.

  • You struggle with hypervigilance, anxiety, self-doubt, or emotional exhaustion.

  • You want support that feels steady, relational, and deeply attuned — week by week, at a pace your nervous system can sustain.

  • You are looking for therapy that goes beyond talking and works with the body too.

There is no right way to heal. What matters is finding an approach that feels safe enough for your system to actually stay with.

Fees

These sessions are longer by design. 90 minutes rather than the standard therapy hour — because the work we're doing here needs room to settle, not just begin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach me via the contact form if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Standard counselling sessions are 50 minutes. That is long enough to begin getting somewhere — but often not long enough to arrive, integrate, and close before the session ends. 90 minutes gives your nervous system time to settle before the work begins, space to go somewhere deeper, and room to begin integrating before you leave.

When what you are working with lives in the body and the nervous system, that extra space is not a luxury. It is part of how the work actually works.

This depends entirely on what you are carrying and what your nervous system is ready for. Some people notice significant shifts within a handful of sessions. Others benefit from longer-term work over months. We will talk about this in our initial consultation — and it is always something we can review together as we go. There is no fixed programme and no pressure to commit to a number upfront.

Completely. You do not need an agenda. You do not need the right words or a clear sense of what you want to work on. We start wherever you are, with whatever you bring, however formed or unformed it is. Often the most important material emerges not from what is prepared but from what arises once you are in the space.

Whilst I will guide you through the Brainspotting process, my role is not to direct your decisions or tell you what your life should look like. It is to help you find your own clarity, your own knowing, your own sense of what is true for you. The work is yours. I simply hold the space and the process.

90-minute sessions tend to suit those who are earlier in their recovery, who need ongoing containment and support alongside everyday life, or whose nervous system works better with gradual rather than concentrated processing.

An intensive tends to suit those who have already have some understanding and are ready for something more concentrated, who want to move something significant in a focused, held space.

If you are unsure, the clarity call is the ideal place to explore this together.

Yes — and for the same reasons as with the intensives. Working from your own home means you are in a familiar, safe environment, which supports nervous system regulation rather than adding the additional stress of travel and unfamiliar spaces. The therapeutic relationship and the Brainspotting process translate fully to an online setting.

Many clients specifically value the privacy and accessibility of working from home.

We always close a session with care, ensuring you leave feeling settled rather than carrying something half-open back into your day. This is one of the reasons 90 minutes makes a difference. If something significant comes up between sessions, you are always welcome to email me. We can also discuss whether the frequency of sessions needs to adjust to give you more support at a particular stage.
