Digital Resources: Terms of Use

Last updated: 22/10/26

These Terms of Use apply to the digital resources created by Sharon Nicholson (“I”, “me” or “my”), including downloadable journals, workbooks, companions and other self-guided materials provided directly to clients as part of my 1:1 therapeutic work, or as a free sample chapter on my website.

My resources are designed to complement my therapeutic approach and offer additional opportunities for reflection and support. These terms explain how the resources may be used and clarify their purpose and limitations.

By accessing or using a resource, you agree to respect these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the resource.

1. Purpose and nature of the resources

My digital resources are educational and reflective materials designed to support greater understanding, self-awareness and personal reflection.

They explore themes including betrayal trauma, relational trauma, anxiety, self-doubt, overthinking, disrupted sleep and the patterns that can develop in response to difficult relational experiences.

For clients working with me on a 1:1 basis, these resources are offered as an additional form of support alongside our therapeutic work. They may provide opportunities for reflection and practice between sessions, at a pace that feels manageable for you.

The resources contain general information, reflective prompts and suggested practices. They are not individually tailored treatment plans and do not, in themselves, constitute therapy, clinical assessment, diagnosis or medical advice.

No particular outcome is guaranteed. Each person's circumstances, experiences and response to the material will be different.

2. Resources included in 1:1 therapeutic work

My self-guided healing resources are included at no additional charge as part of my 1:1 therapeutic work, subject to the arrangements agreed for that work.

They are intended to complement our sessions, offering something you can return to between appointments and explore in your own time.

I provide the resources once we begin working together.

You are not expected to complete every exercise or work through every resource. You are welcome to use the material selectively, return to particular sections or leave anything that does not feel helpful.

The resources do not replace our sessions or change the arrangements agreed for our therapeutic work. Any questions about how a resource relates to your individual circumstances can be explored within the usual boundaries of our work together.

Access to these resources is for your personal use. It does not include permission to share, distribute or reproduce the materials for others. You may keep your copies for personal use after our work ends.

3. Appropriate use and personal responsibility

You are responsible for deciding how you engage with the material and whether a particular exercise feels appropriate for you at that time.

Some topics and reflective exercises may bring up difficult thoughts, memories or emotions. You do not need to push through an exercise that feels overwhelming. You can pause, leave it unfinished or return to it later if that feels appropriate.

The resources are intended to encourage reflection, not to create another set of expectations or tasks you must complete correctly.

If using a resource raises concerns about your wellbeing, consider pausing and seeking appropriate support. If you are working with me, we can discuss relevant experiences within our agreed therapeutic arrangements.

Nothing in these terms transfers all responsibility for your wellbeing to you or removes any legal or professional responsibilities that apply to me.

4. Scope and professional support

My resources are not a substitute for individual therapy, psychological or psychiatric assessment, medical advice or other professional care where these are needed.

They are not designed to provide crisis intervention or emergency support. Although a resource may explore anxiety, sleep difficulties or other distressing experiences, it cannot determine the cause of your symptoms or establish what treatment may be appropriate for you.

If you experience persistent or significant difficulties with anxiety, sleep or your mental health, please speak with your GP or another suitably qualified healthcare professional.

If you are in an unsafe situation, your immediate safety and access to appropriate practical support are important. A reflective resource should not take the place of help with an immediate risk.

If you are experiencing acute distress or feel unable to keep yourself safe, please seek urgent support. In the UK, you can contact NHS 111 for urgent health advice, Samaritans on 116 123 for emotional support, or call 999 in an emergency.

5. Age requirement

My digital resources are intended for adults aged 18 and over.

By accessing or using a resource, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

6. Access and format

My resources may be provided in digital formats, including downloadable PDF documents, through my website or directly to clients as part of my 1:1 work.

You are responsible for having a suitable device and software to access the format provided and for keeping your own copy in a secure place where applicable.

I cannot guarantee compatibility with every device, application or operating system. If you experience a technical problem accessing a resource provided as part of our work together, please contact me so that we can consider an appropriate solution.

I may update, revise or discontinue a resource from time to time. Where a resource forms part of an existing therapeutic arrangement, any change will be handled in a way that takes account of the arrangements already agreed and any applicable legal obligations.

7. Intellectual property and permitted use

All content within my resources, including written material, exercises, prompts, structure, design and layout, is owned by Sharon Nicholson or used with permission and is protected by applicable intellectual property and copyright laws.

Access to a resource grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use that material for your own private reflection and learning.

You may not, without my prior written permission:

- Share, distribute, publish or make the resource available to other people.

- Reproduce, copy or republish substantial parts of the material.

- Upload the resource to websites, forums, file-sharing services or shared drives.

- Sell, licence, rent or otherwise commercially exploit the resource.

- Modify, adapt, translate or create derivative works from the material.

- Use the resource or its contents as part of professional training, a course, a group programme or work with clients, patients or other third parties.

These restrictions do not prevent you from discussing your own reflections or experiences with your therapist or another appropriate professional. They concern the copying, distribution and use of the resource itself.

If you wish to use any of my material for teaching, professional, organisational or commercial purposes, please contact me to discuss written permission and any appropriate licensing arrangements.

Nothing in these terms removes rights that cannot lawfully be restricted.

8. Professional boundaries

A digital resource is distinct from the therapeutic service I provide.

If you are already working with me, receiving or using a resource does not replace the arrangements agreed for our therapy, including the boundaries around appointments, communication, availability and support between sessions.

The resources do not create an additional service or an entitlement to personalised therapeutic advice outside those agreed arrangements.

If you are not working with me, accessing a resource does not by itself establish a therapist–client relationship, create an agreement to provide therapy or entitle you to individual assessment or therapeutic support.

If you are interested in working with me, you are welcome to arrange a free clarity call to discuss your circumstances and whether my 1:1 work may be appropriate for you.

9. Liability and limitations

I take care in preparing my resources and aim to ensure that their content is clear, considered and appropriate for their intended educational and reflective purpose.

However, the resources are provided as general materials and cannot account for every individual's circumstances, needs or response. I cannot guarantee that a particular exercise or resource will be suitable or beneficial for everyone.

To the extent permitted by law, I am not responsible for losses arising from use of a resource in a way that is inconsistent with its intended purpose or these terms.

Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted under applicable consumer protection law.

These terms do not remove any rights you may have under applicable law, nor do they override any relevant professional obligations.

10. Privacy and confidentiality

These terms concern the use of my digital resources. Any personal information you provide through my website or in connection with my services is handled in accordance with my Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law.

Please do not send sensitive personal or health information through an ordinary website contact form unless the form specifically indicates that it is appropriate to do so.

If you are working with me, the confidentiality arrangements that apply to our therapeutic work are governed by the relevant information provided for that service and the professional and legal obligations that apply.

11. Previously purchased resources

These Terms of Use are intended to reflect the way my resources are currently provided.

If you purchased a resource before these terms took effect, the terms and conditions applicable to that transaction, together with any applicable statutory rights, may continue to apply to that purchase.

Nothing in these updated terms is intended to remove rights or remedies that arose from a previous purchase or to retrospectively change the terms of an existing transaction.

If you have a question about a previous purchase, please contact me using the details below.

12. Changes to these terms

I may update these Terms of Use from time to time to reflect changes to my resources, the way they are provided or applicable legal and professional requirements.

The latest version will be published on my website with its revision date.

Changes will not retrospectively remove rights you have already acquired or override legal obligations relating to earlier transactions. Where necessary, I will take appropriate steps to explain how a change affects existing arrangements.

13. Governing law

These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any dispute concerning these terms will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory legal rights you may have to bring proceedings elsewhere or any other applicable legal requirements.

14. Contact information

If you have questions about these terms, the use of my resources or permission to reproduce any of my material, please contact me.
