Grief and profound loss

Sharon Nicholson, online trauma therapist UK

Brainspotting - anxiety, trauma, narcissistic abuse

You're not broken

You may not call it grief, but something in you knows. You’ve lost something that mattered deeply.

  • Maybe it was a person
  • A relationship
  • A dream
  • Your health
  • The life you thought you’d have

Or maybe something changed so completely, you no longer recognise yourself, or your world.

Often, what follows isn’t just sadness.

It’s a quiet disconnection, a sense of numbness, anxiety, exhaustion, or emptiness that doesn’t seem to have a clear cause.

A feeling of being stuck that you can’t explain.

This doesn’t mean something is wrong with you.

It may mean you’re carrying grief that hasn’t had space to be seen or felt.

Grief doesn’t always look like we expect.

It isn’t always loud, and it doesn’t follow a clear timeline.

Sometimes it shows up as a heaviness in the body, fog in the mind, a loss of direction or spark.

In my work as a trauma and grief therapist, I offer gentle, body-focused support that helps you reconnect with yourself, without needing to relive every detail or find the perfect words.

Clients often describe this work as calming, grounding, and quietly transformative.

You don’t have to push through, hold it all together, or figure it out alone.

There is no rush, no expectation, just space for you to land, feel, and begin to heal.

Over time, what feels stuck can start to move.

What once felt overwhelming begins to soften.

Clients often notice they’re breathing more deeply, sleeping more easily, feeling a little more like themselves again.

It doesn’t mean the loss disappears, but it means you can start to live alongside it with more steadiness, more clarity, and more self-compassion.

If you feel disconnected, stuck, or changed by something you can’t quite name, please know this:

  • Your pain is real, and it matters
  • You don’t have to carry it alone

When you’re ready, I invite you to contact me for an informal chat about what you need, and how I could help you.
