Signature therapy intensive

Sharon Nicholson, online trauma therapist UK

Brainspotting - anxiety, trauma, narcissistic abuse

process past trauma, stuck grief, and recover from difficult relationships

Some experiences leave more than memories, they change you, not because they happened once, but because they happened in relationship.

They leave a nervous system that never fully relaxed, a sense of self that feels fractured, and patterns that replay silently in your daily life.

If you’ve been carrying intense grief, past trauma, or the lingering impact of difficult relationships, a Signature Therapy Intensive offers a deeply held, focused container to process and shift what has been holding you back - in just 2 or 3 days.

Using Brainspotting alongside parts-informed therapy (IFS-inspired), we work with your nervous system, emotions, and internal patterns, so change can happen in a contained, paced, and supported way.

This intensive goes deeper than weekly sessions, giving you time, focus, and continuity to access experiences that can take months to surface in shorter appointments.

Who this intensive is for

This intensive is designed for you if you are:

  • You are navigating a traumatic loss or a grieving process that feels overwhelming, stuck, or unusually intense, and want focused support

  • Recovering from difficult or abusive relationships, including narcissistic, coercive or controlling dynamics

  • Carrying unprocessed trauma from the past that still affects your daily life

  • Wanting to reconnect with your own needs, values, and inner sense of safety

It’s not a quick fix, but it provides focused, multi-hour sessions designed to support noticeable, sustainable shifts in a paced and contained way.

What to expect

Structured, supportive sessions

  • 2‑ or 3-day format, with 3-hour sessions each day, plus a ~15-minute break

  • Combines parts-informed therapy to explore internal patterns and Brainspotting to process trauma and emotional experiences at a nervous-system level

  • Includes a 90-minute follow-up session about a week later to consolidate shifts and support integration into daily life

Focus areas clients often choose:

  • Traumatic grief: processing losses that feel unresolved, whether recent or long-held

  • Past relationship trauma: working with the emotional and nervous-system impact of controlling, narcissistic, or abusive relationships

  • Internal patterns and parts: noticing different “parts” of yourself - protective, critical, or grieving - and working with them safely

  • Reconnecting to self: building clarity, self-compassion, and internal resources to feel grounded and more confident

Why this intensive is different from ongoing sessions

Sharon Nicholson, online trauma therapist UK

Brainspotting - anxiety, trauma, narcissistic abuse

While weekly sessions offer a steady rhythm of support and reflection, an intensive provides:

Depth: Multi-hour sessions allow you to explore complex grief and trauma without the interruption of weekly gaps

Momentum: Continuous, structured work means your nervous system can engage fully, allowing processing and insights that may take months to emerge in weekly sessions

Integration: Built-in breaks, pacing, and the follow-up session help shifts settle into your daily life

Ethically supported progress: You experience the benefits of concentrated focus and continuity, without promising instant “cures”: change is facilitated, not guaranteed

How the process works

  • Free Clarity Call: a short call to explore whether this intensive is right for you

  • Initial 90-minute Consultation: paid separately, to explore your history, goals, and readiness for processing

  • Book your intensive or ongoing 90-minute sessions: depending on what fits your needs and nervous system

This step-by-step approach ensures you feel safe, supported, and clear before diving into deeper work.

Why this intensive works

  • Combines Brainspotting and parts-informed therapy for a nervous-system led, holistic approach

  • Flexible focus: you choose what feels most pressing while the structure holds the work safely

  • Helps you process trauma, release stuck grief, and build internal resources that support lasting change

  • Provides depth, continuity, and momentum not possible in weekly sessions alone

  • Offers pace, breaks, and follow-up to help integrate insights sustainably

  • Ethical, realistic framing: the intensive facilitates change without overpromising outcomes

Who an intensive is designed for

When an intensive may not be the right fit

When an intensive may not be the right fit

An intensive may be right for you if:

  • You have been deeply affected by a relationship involving betrayal, or prolonged relational harm

  • You are struggling with grief or traumatic loss that feels unresolved or keeps resurfacing

  • You’re ready to spend focused time working on your healing and can stay present with strong feelings

  • Your grief, past trauma, or emotional pain feels heavy but you can still cope and ground yourself afterwards.

  • You carry shame or guilt about how you survived or adapted

  • You notice your body remains tense, alert, or exhausted

  • You want space to explore patterns, experiences, or feelings that haven’t fully resolved.

  • You have grounding resources and some support available after the intensive

If you resonate with this, and your life circumstances allow you to prioritise your healing, a therapy intensive may be the right step.

Intensives are not suitable for everyone, and that matters.

Weekly therapy may be a better option if you:

  • Feel completely overwhelmed or struggle to regulate emotions

  • Experience frequent dissociation without awareness or containment

  • Are currently in crisis or unsafe relational situations

  • Are early in trauma processing or new to therapy

  • Do not have support or stability outside of therapy

There is no “better” or “worse” choice here. Slower, steadier work is often exactly what a nervous system needs.

Relational Trauma, Narcissistic Abuse, Profound Loss

Why this work matters

Engaging in a therapy intensive can create shifts that ripple far beyond the sessions themselves.

If you're experiencing high activation, intrusive thoughts / images, or ongoing relational triggering, an intensive is often the most supportive option - because it gives your nervous system enough time to settle, process and integrate, rather than repeatedly reopening the wound.

Clients often notice:

  • A sense of internal stability that allows clearer decision-making and more presence in daily life

  • Greater self-trust and confidence in boundaries and relationships

  • Reduced rumination and emotional reactivity, with more ease in thinking and feeling

  • Integration of internal parts and reconciliation of conflicting emotions, leading to more coherence and inner peace

  • Embodied release of trauma patterns, allowing the body and nervous system to finally catch up with what the mind already knows

This work is not about quick fixes, but about creating real, lasting, embodied change that supports your autonomy, resilience, and wellbeing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact me via the enquiry form if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Weekly sessions offer regular support, reflection, and guidance, but progress can be slower because each session is separated by a week, sometimes two. An intensive gives uninterrupted, multi-hour sessions over 2 or 3 days, allowing your nervous system to fully engage and deeper processing to occur. You also get a 90-minute follow-up session to help integrate shifts.

Sessions are carefully paced, with built-in 15-minute breaks, and work is always contained and manageable. The intensive is structured around your nervous system, ensuring you can go as deep as feels safe without being overwhelmed.

While it’s not a quick fix or guaranteed “cure,” you can expect to process grief or trauma more efficiently, notice insights and shifts in perspective, and build internal resources to support ongoing change. Multi-day focus allows access to layers of experience that may take months to reach in weekly sessions.

A free clarity call and initial 90-minute consultation help us explore your history, goals, and readiness. The intensive is appropriate if you feel safe to engage in deeper work, want focused support, and are open to processing emotional experiences in a structured container.

Yes, the intensive can cover one or a few related themes, for example, past grief and lingering relationship trauma, but it’s structured to avoid overwhelming you. Sessions are paced to help you process layers safely.

You can continue with weekly 90-minute sessions if needed, or schedule another intensive in the future. The intensive is designed to create momentum and foundational shifts, which can be supported with ongoing therapy if desired.

The 90-minute follow-up session happens approximately 7 days after the intensive. Its purpose is to consolidate shifts, integrate insights into daily life, and address any residual emotions or questions.
